News from the Votemaster

No new polls today. Sunday is a slow news day. Pollsters don't like to announce new polls when nobody is listening.

After yesterday's ministudy of which universities are the most interested in the election (click on Previous report above if you missed it), several people asked for other statistics, so here goes. The total number of unique visitors to this site since June 1 is estimated to be 105,000. As with polling itself, there are all kinds of methodological issues involved in counting visitors, such as the effects of caches. Friday we had 14,500 visitors, many of whom come back daily. Weekends are always slow.

The approximate breakdown by top-level domain is: .net (44%), .com (29%), unknown (14%), .edu (6%), .gov (1%), .org (1%), .mil (1%). The rest is scattered over the other domains.

The top 20 countries are: US, Canada, Netherlands, UK, Australia, France, Japan, New Zealand, Germany, Norway, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Finland, Italy, Austria, Brazil, Mexico, and Taiwan.

If you type "electoral vote" to Google, Yahoo, Lycos, or metacrawler, this site is #1. If you type it to msn.com's search engine, it is not listed, unless you include the quotation marks, in which case it is #1.
