I Read the News Today, Oh Boy: Teddy Roosevelt Thought Woodrow Wilson Was Cowardly

Nearly every week, Donald Trump tears into Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Kamala Harris or all of the above with nasty personal attacks. We tried to think of any other sitting or former president who did this, and the best we could come up with was Theodore Roosevelt. He said many unflattering things about his successor's successor, Woodrow Wilson, like: "What a dreadful creature Wilson is! I cannot believe our people have grown so yellow as to stand for him." This was not long after the Lusitania sinking, which was an act of war as far as TR was concerned, but not as far as Wilson was concerned. With that said, the Rough Rider confined his badmouthing to private latters, and did not air such grievances publicly. So, once again, the ~~cheeto~~ cheese stands alone.

As is usually the case, we had two hints for last week's theme. The first was, "if the aforementioned Davy Crockett wasn't dead, and was playing along, he would probably be the first person to send in a correct response." The second was, "We thought we'd given away the store with the Davy Crockett hint, particularly if you consider both references to him in yesterday's posting. Today, we'll add the hint that we think Jeremy Allen White would do pretty well with this theme, too."
