Reader R.P.E.H. in London, England, UK wrote in to remind us, quite rightly, to point out something that is true of virtually all the recent Texas polls, including this one. While James Talarico is leading, so too is Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX); in this case, Abbott is up 48% to 41% on Democrat Gina Hinojosa. That suggests that the sample probably isn't wonky (especially when it keeps happening in poll after poll), and also suggests that there's some significant ticket-splitting in the cards, presumably because some Republicans just don't want to vote for Ken Paxton.
