Today's Senate Polls

Here are today's polls.

State Democrat D % Republican R % Start End Pollster
Minnesota Peggy Flanagan 42% Michele Tafoya 42% Sep 09 Sep 14 SurveyUSA
Nebraska No Democrat 0% Pete Ricketts* 52% Sep 14 Sep 16 Wedgewood Polls
Ohio Sherrod Brown 48% Jon Husted* 45% Sep 01 Sep 10 YouGov

* Denotes incumbent

Minnesota is surprisingly close. This is probably an outlier. SurveyUSA is a good pollster but 5% of the polls will be outside the margin of error (about 4%) due to the nature of random sampling. That's just math. Here are the MN polls so far.

But the close race in Nebraska is real. Ricketts is at 52% and independent Dan Osborn is at 48% in today's poll. Here are the NE polls so far. The key here is that the Democrat dropped out, unlike Alani Bankhead (D) in MT who wants to teach the Democrats a lesson (the lesson being: people like me can't win but we can make you lose, so you are our hostage).

NE polls

Note that today's score is 51D, 3T, 46R. Tht's SEVEN Republican seats where they are tied or behind. As Yogi Berra famously said: It ain't over 'til its over, but having SEVEN seats seriously in play can't be giving Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) restful sleep every night. If in January some political analyst had predicted that seven Republican Senate seats would be in play, that would have elicited much giggling. Oh, and the national average gas price is $4.46/Gal. (vs. $2.99 on Jan. 1, 2026) and rising. And the war in Iran is not heading to a speedy end. (V)
