It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, Day 5: J.D. Vance
Time for six reader-suggested Christmas gifts for Vice-President-elect J.D. Vance:
- R.S. in Milan, OH: I'd like to suggest a scrapbook of stories, social media posts, etc.
from around 2017 when universities around the country were fawning over Hillbilly Elegy. This gift will serve as
a reminder of just how much the institutions of higher education he has been demonizing embraced him. This doesn't
appear to matter to him, so the Christmas gift needs to be presented in a very public manner to remind the electorate as
well.
- C.W. in Littleton, CO: As the lead lackey, perhaps this book would help J.D. Vance understand his role.
(I mean, everyone else will be gifting him a plush sofa with a big, red bow.)
- M.B. in Granby, MA: A fond reminder of J.D.'s first time speed dating:
- M.M. in San Diego, CA: A visit with his favorite relative:
- S.S. in West Hollywood, CA: This cookbook seems appropriate:
- N.S. in Lafayette, CO: A loaded coal train that derails into his front yard.
For the rest of the week, we'll be running reader answers to this question suggested by T.B. in
Powell, OH: Imagine you were going to give a Christmas gift to the United States. Specifically, a law,
institution, initiative, civic structure, or like commodity imported from some other nation. What gift would you
bestow?
