Trump Is 18 Points Under Water

A new quality Quinnipiac U. poll has Donald Trump's approval at 37% and his disapproval at 55%, tying his low for Trump v2.0. This poll has him 18 points under water. A Gallup poll in late July also had his approval at 37%. Other polls have had him in the low 40s. It is widely assumed that if he is in the mid 30s or worse in Nov. 2026, he will drown the entire Republican ticket. This poll could just be a statistical fluctuation, but his range seems to be 37% to 46%, with a midpoint in the low 40s. Still, 18 points under water is not good for any politician. Trump was +3 net at the start of Trump v2.0, so he is down 21 points since January. Not a great trendline.

Trump's problem is not with Republicans, as 84% approve of the job he is doing and only 9% disapprove. Democrats don't care for him much, with 98% disapproving. But Trump's real problem is with independents, with 31% approval and 59% disapproval.

Here is Trump's net rating from the Quinnipiac poll on specific topics:

It is not a pretty picture and shows little sign of getting better. (V)
