Questions/Letters to the Editor

Questions on Saturdays and letters to the editor on Sundays should be polite, concise, and to the point. Letters can disagree with someone, but please keep it civil.

You can put HTML formatting in your message. For example, <i>stuff</i> gives stuff and <b>stuff</b> gives stuff. See this page for more HTML formatting.

Suppose you want to comment on a "letter to the editor" we published last week or earlier. It would be helpful to readers to have a quick link to jump to that letter. Below we show you how to include such a link in your letter.

First visit the page where the letter you want to comment on is. Then scroll down to find the letter. Next click on the name of the writer. The page will then jump, putting that letter on top. Now you can copy the new URL by clicking once on it in the address bar, then right clicking on the highlighted text and selecting "Copy" from the drop-down menu. You can now paste the copied URL in your letter using CTRL-V (Windows) or CMD-V (MacOS). Suppose the copied URL is

https://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2026/whatever

then your letter could contain:

Last week, <a href="https://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2026/whatever" target="_blank">John Smith</a> wrote ...

You need the target="_blank" attribute to make the page appear in a new tab, which is our house style.
